Final Waxing

Julie puts the final touches of wax on by hand just before we are ready to splash Cisnecito.
We try to wax Cisnecito three times a year with pure wax and no polish. We also try to cut and polish once a year. Sometimes the areas with more exposure to the sun (transom, cabin top, etc.) require additional polishing and wax.
We also try to not use soap when cleaning her down as it often removes the wax. You can definitely see any spots of gelcoat that have been exposed to sun without any wax. So I believe the wax really does help prolong it life.
Of course gelcoat is not infinitely thick and cutting and polishing do remove a thin layer. Eventually the topsides will need to be painted as I have been told that it is almost impossible to re-gelcoat.
This eventuality is probably still close to a decade off for us but it is important to consider the implications of any polish and waxing regimens.
