After the cold water in New Zealand, I was so excited to get to Australia so we could finally do some swimming and water sports. Wrong. If it?? s not sharks or crocodiles, it?? s box jelly fish that will kill you in a matter of minutes. The Aussies don?? t seem to be particularly concerned about the dangers lurking in the sea, but I am more weary. We've been very cautious while swimming - swimming close to shore and usually only in the middle of the afternoon. Our safest swimming was in the manmade Lagoon in Airlie Beach. And from here it only gets worse the farther we go north. Cape York is a literal crocodile breeding ground. Good thing there is also a manmade lagoon here in Cairns ??" I?? ll get my fill of swimming before we go.
