1000 Miles to Chagos

Not too much to report out here. We had a great first two days, averaging 190 miles per day. Today was not as fast, with huge swells and less wind, but we did make some good progress and have just about 1,000 miles until Chagos. We haven't seen another boat since leaving Cocos, which I suppose is what one should expect out here, but feels somewhat lonely. It is comforting knowing that there are boats both ahead of and behind us, so we're not totally alone. There are quite a few birds, one of which took up post at the top of our mast for twelve hours the other night. Fortunately he didn't break any of the wind instruments, which was our fear. Yesterday we caught four mahi mahi's, so we decided to bring in the lines as we have plenty to last us for a while. We left out a "teaser" (a big lure with no hook, intended to attract fish to our other lures) last night with 100 test line and when we got up this morning, the whole thing was gone. It had to have been something huge, we're not sure what though.
