Mahi Potluck

We caught an enormous mahi-mahi on our approach to Hell-Ville. It was much more than we could eat ourselves, so decided to have a little potluck with our friends here. I gave 1/4 of the fish to each of the boats and they, in turn, brought it back in a much more appetizing form for dinner. La Familia made fish cakes and a dish they called "Mahi La Familia" which had potatoes, fish and white sauce. Quite excellent. Petrell made teriyaki mahi and a great couscous salad and Eagle Wing made their infamous Poisson Cru, which is raw fish, peppers, onions and tomatoes marinated in coconut milk. We grilled marinated kabobs with onions and made a salad with the last of the heart of palm from Chagos. Mistakenly, I had bought these cute, colorful little peppers in the market and threw a couple in for color...they were so that I just about killed everyone. Good thing we had plenty of local rum and coke to wash it down with. We had quite a feast and fun evening watching sailing videos (as if we don't do enough sailing ourselves) and surfing movies.
We are going to go to the market this morning for some fresh produce and bread and head over to Nosy Komba to meet up with Emma on Freefall. She is suffering from "helly belly" and we are desperately hoping we don't get the same!
Sorry no pictures. Unfortunately our camera was destroyed by water a couple of days before we left Chagos. Digital cameras are not available in Nosy Be so we working out the alternatives.
