A Norwegian Anchor Dram

The other five boats arrived this morning and La Familia invited us all over for an anchor dram. They had a bottle of Linie Aquavit from Norway. The uniqueness of this brand of Aquavit is that it has crossed the equator two times - carried on a ship from Norway to Australia and back again. And this particular bottle has actually crossed the equator three times - the third time on La Familia on their way to the Galapagos. We had tried Linie once before when our friends Ulrik and Julie brought a bottle when they visited us in New Zealand. Seems it's quite a strong Norwegian tradition.
We all had a cup of Aquavit and then Marit and Teresa made wonderful Norwegian pancakes which we had with all sorts of jams, Nutella, and honey and pepper. We had a fun time catching up and sharing stories of the passage.
We just listened to the Peri Peri Net and were told that the southerlies are not supposed to subside until the 10th, meaning we're here for another five days. It's a very lovely place but we are all quite low on food, so we are sort of pooling resources. Tonight is a potluck BBQ on Freefall and we're all trying to think of new and interesting things to do with rice and pasta. Good thing for the sea, however, as both Freefall and La Familia caught mackerels which Axel will BBQ tonight.
