South African Boat Builders

22 December 2006 | Cape Town
Chris
Today, we rented a car and drove to Gunboat's boat building facility. They make high performance cruising catamarans. We had a nice chat with two of the team who showed us the boats in production. It was really fun for us because both of these guys were very passionate and enthusiastic about their work. One of the boat builders we met had been involved in building a few of the recent maxis, AC boats and Open 60s. Gunboat uses much of the same technology, materials, and building techniques as these full on race boats. We look forward to an opportunity to test sail one soon.
