Off for Canoa Quebrada

13 March 2007 | Jacare
Julie
We are planning to leave this afternoon for Canoa Quebrada, which is a small beach town about 350 miles north of here. According to our charts, there is a river that we should be anchor in which is just a short distance from the town. We will have to arrive at high tide and hopefully find a local boat to guide us in, but it looks to be very protected once inside. Unfortunately we haven´t been able to find much information on anchorages on the coast, outside of the large cities that we would like to avoid.

Our stay in Jacare was very nice and convenient. Most helpful to us has been Brian Stephens, who owns the boatyard, Cabedelo Nautica. Other than speaking English, he provides a lot of services for yachties, including moorings, internet, showers, maps, help with fuel and - most valuable - tons of local knowledge. He called the authorities for us yesterday and let them know we would be coming, which made for our easiest check-in/out yet! Chris really enjoyed seeing his projects in the yard and chatting with him about boatbuilding, etc.
