Jeri is So Very...

We took the dinghy in, timing our arrival between sets of waves. Chris anchored the boat amongst the local fishing boats and we went into town. Thre are about three main streets, which are made of dirt. There are tons of little boutiques, pousadas and cool looking restaurants.

The beach scene is amazing. There are people surfing, sandboarding, kiteboarding, windsurfing, horseback riding and doing caipoera. The less active set are hanging out at cool beachfront restaurants drinking large bottles of Bohemia, the local favorite beer.

We had some lunch and played in the waves for hours. It is so nice to be out of that dirty river water! In the afternoon we climbed to the top of the sand dune (where we took this photo) and then had sundowners on the beach. Unfortunately we had to go back to the boat after that...which was when the action was really picking up. It seems that the town really comes alive at night. Within minutes there were drink stands and music everywhere.

We were tired from the sail and had a nice quiet evening and decent night of sleep considering the exposed anchorage. Today we may go for a horseback or dunebuggy ride on the dunes and probably leave for Tobago in the morning.
