Block Island Race Week
24 June 2007 | Block Island, USA
Julie

We just finished racing in Block Island Race Week on Yeoman XXXII. We ran into Ashley, a professional sailor who runs the boat, in Antigua (where the boat took first in its class) and had raced with her before up in Newport, RI. A few weeks later she invited us to crew on Yeoman in BIRW.
We flew from Panama City to Newark. It was really cool because a guy that follows our blog (and we had never met!) very generously picked us up from the airport and drove us all the way into the city in rush hour Friday night traffic. We spent one night with our friend Dawn in the city, then took the train and ferry up to Block Island. We met the boat and crew and the fun began. We had five great days of racing and evenings that progressed from The Oar, then the beer tent for awards and finally an excellent dinner every night at the crew house.
It was fun to be back in Block Island after so many years and to race on such a competitive boat...not to mention meeting a fabulous group of people. Once again we have the racing bug that we got last time leaving Antigua!
