Friday 23 May:Relaxed Tilos
On Friday we caught the local bus along with the local school kids and a bunch of other visitors and drove our way up the now all too familiar windy mountain road to a village at the top. Here we walked in search of ancient ruins and a cave which signs pointed that way, but as is the Greek way no indication of distance. So, after hiking some way in the heat with no sign of our journey's end we gave up and trudged back up the hill to enjoy a very large cold water and orange juice.
In the taverna we met another Dutch couple, Jan-William and Wendelien, and got chatting with them. They have been visiting the Greek Islands each year for the past 20 years for their holiday, they do not sail but they island hop using the ferries and were happy to advise us of their favourite spots to visit. We then all piled back onto the bus and picked up the school kids from their soccer training session along the way.
Back in Livhadia we thought we would enjoy a spinach pie but the shop was sold out. So time to put on the swimmers and head for the beach. On the way we met up again with Jan-William and Wendelien in a taverna on the waterfront and joined them for lunch and along with Janik another Australian and the owner we enjoyed a lively and fun discussion and of course yummy food.
Finally we get to the beach and our first swim off the beach for the season, water still cold and a bit shocking at first but once in it was great, then we enjoyed lying in the lovely warm sun. When we returned to Clio for vegie bake dinner, Chris realised she had not thawed the spinach, what a shame we have to go out for pizza.......
We had neighbours from Luxembourg move in this afternoon on the other side of the quay in what looks like a stealth yacht, a very large (approx 60 feet) and very black yacht with a very hard working crew, who after tying up cleaned the whole boat while the very wealthy looking owners lounged and then wandered off to dinner. The Clio skipper is considering some additional crew training...
