Tuesday 27 May: Datca encore
Weather is great now 24 degrees with clear skies. Today Francis was back at Vodaphone still trying to sort out SIM cards and internet. We finally get the phones working but the internet is not working possibly in the whole of Turkey. We wonder if this is the Government's way of dealing with the unrest?
The phones working turned out to be temporary as the Turkish government has instituted a law that only mobiles purchased in Turkey are allowed onto the Turkish network... unless you are willing to find a tax office and pay TL120 (AU$60) per phone to register it (followed by some unclear procedure with the provider of choice). As far as we're aware, Turkey is the only country to have such rules.
This morning Chris headed off to the Fishing tackle shop to get her fishing rod rigged out again due to the following sad fishing tale. As we were sailing into Kos the Coast Guard were hooning around and decided to speed across our wake, and as Chris had the line out in hope of catching our dinner, they collected the lure and took the whole line with them. Luckily we had recently purchased and fitted a rod holder on the stern rail so the rod was saved but completely stripped.
Back to the beach to swim again and although the water is still cold it is so warm out of the water that is very refreshing. Annette and Rein caught up with us again and we enjoyed hearing more of their tales. Night out for dinner at the local Captain's restaurant very yummy steaks and again very pleasant hospitality with a complementary but of very nice eau de toilette sprinkled on your hands when we left.
