Eventless in Selimiye

Friday 30 May 2014: Eventless in Selimiye
We woke this morning to much calmer conditions, thankfully. But after a very restless night Francis was keen to leave Kuruca Buku behind us and we headed for Selimiye after making radio contact with Annette and Rein we found them on our AIS and followed them in. We tied up alongside in the small marina where we were assisted by a local cantina owner who proudly displayed for us his mouth full of gold teeth. It cost us T(urkish) L(ira) 100 (AU$50) to stay the night but it was worth it to be able to give Clio a good wash. The downpour from the night before had bought with it sand from the Sahara desert which apparently goes up into the atmosphere and comes down in the rain. Clio looked like she had been in a mud bath.
We enjoyed a nice meal with Annette and Rein in a small local restaurant, and got a good night's sleep.
Francis cleaned the outboard from any salt water after it had been submerged, but no joy it does not want to work. Time to move on again and Annette and Rein have recommended that we might like to visit Orhaniye which is a sheltered bay and has nice anchorage so we decided to go there the next day.
