Peace and quiet in Orhaniye

Saturday 31 May: Peace and quiet in Orhaniye
After a nice event-less motoring trip from Selimiye to the bay North of it, Orhanye, we found a nice spot and dropped anchor opposite a tourist attraction. There is a very long sand bar sticking out into the bay, which is slightly submerged. People come by the bus- and boatloads to walk on water, it looks like a school for aspiring Jezusses. Jetskis and motorboats towing people at speed on banana boats and tubes buzz around and in between large gullets coming and going. Some kind of a watersport holiday camp. Luckily it all stops around 5 in the arvo so we can sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.
At last the water is not too cold and a morning swim is a great way to start the day for Chris. It took a little convincing but Francis eventually also took the plunge and while Chris is enjoying a leisurely swim and float around Clio Francis dons mask and flippers and sets to cleaning Clio's bottom from its first attempts by algae to get a free trip around Turkish waters: a skipper's job is never done.
