Farewell to R&A and Eeyoor

Wednesday 4 & Thursday 5 June 2014: Farewell to R&A and Eeyoor
Wind howling through all day Wednesday so a good day to stay below and do a bit of reading and watching House of Cards episodes (thanks Martin and Ton). We came out in the afternoon and invited Annette and Rein for drinks before joining us for dinner. The wind has dropped to a reasonable level.
On Thursday Francis headed back to Marmaris today to revisit the chandleries for a braided-rope spool (to bring ashore to make anchoring easier in steep-profiled anchorages) and to get a Blue Card. The Blue Card is a new (since late 2013) requirement of the Turkish government that you have to get signed off when you empty your holding tank at an official station of which there are very few. We are informed that people just pay someone to sign without emptying. Even boats without holding tanks are required to have one???? The consequence of not having a blue card is if checked by the coastguard you can be fined €3,500 ($5,300). We'd rather spend that on badly needed additional solar panels. The expedition was successful on both fronts.
Our request for another day at their pontoon was turned down as a bunch of charter boats will be arriving tomorrow and they ran out of space. As the wind had died down sufficiently, we also were eager to move on so we enjoyed our final meal at Eeyoor's restaurant and said goodbye to Ali and the crew. We also said our goodbyes to Rein and Annette who stayed on to get their teak deck re-kitted . Thanks for spending such pleasant times with us, guys, and hope to meet up again.
