Productive Saturday

My youngest daughter was down for the weekend. Her and I made 12 jars of pickled beets Shown are three jars of the beets and the homemade fresh fruit custard tart I made to have with our supper of chicken and dumplings.
During our production the hospital called me to say Al had taken two falls while independently trying to transfer himself. Thankfully he was not hurt. Today there was a lot of work done on independent transferring. The goal is for him to be independent in this by mid week. His body seems to be progressing quicker than his brain can process. He lacks insight into his abilities, which is common.
Yesterday Al's eldest daughter Natasha was down. We took Al to the waterfront and it was a hike. Getting him there was easy but it was up hill all the way back.
Tomorrow I will go early to be part of the discussion about Al's treatment plan. I will ask when his feeding tube might be removed. He no longer needs this and it hasn't been used in several weeks. I also want to see how his continued bladder issues intend to be managed.
Today he continued his standing and walking exercises. In communication we looked at photos of his past and chatted about his career. His memory is improving and his communication is coming along with less prompting.
