We're On Our Way
24 May 2008 | 3:30pm, underway to San Quintin

After hearing the wind & swell report from one of the power boats this morning, we decided to poke out of the anchorage to see if we could make our way to Cedros Island (50 miles away). Well, we're happy to report that we're past Cedros Island, and we've decided to continue through the night to San Quintin.
Today's passage to Cedros was not so bad. The wind was from the west, not right on our nose like usual, and we were protected from the seas by the lee of Cedros most of the day. So, since we had a nice passage today and we were going to do an overnighter tomorrow night, why not just continue on? The wind is now from the WSW. Having wind from that direction is a DREAM for anyone doing the "bash." This time of year WSW is very rare, and it's only supposed to be around today and tonight and then clock around to NW wind. The seas are rather large swells. I'd say the seas are 8-12 feet, but they are supposed to be diminishing as the hours go on. We're lucky the swells are long period, so we glide up and down them...no bashing right now.
Other than that, we saw some dolphins today...even some little baby dolphins jumping beside their moms. It was really cute to see the little ones out in the water.
