We are new members inspired to join after reading and enjoying the posts from other Sailblog members. We've learned much from reading the blogs and hope to be able to add to the collective experience. As relatively new sailors (4 years now), our learning experiences may be helpful to others out there. We are fortunate to live near and sail in the Chesapeake Bay, one of the most beautiful sailing grounds in North America (my humble opinion, of course!). We are currently planning our longest cruise yet from our home port in Solomons, Maryland, to Norfolk, Virginia and back. The dates aren't confirmed yet due to work schedules, but it will take place sometime in late July or early August. For those of you familiar with the Chesapeake, you know that that is not the optimum time for sailing. Decreased winds and increased chances for afternoon thunderstorms will be factors we will have to contend with, but we are nevertheless excited and looking forward to our trip. Future posts will contain information about our favorite anchorages, previous sailing trips, and equipment we wouldn't want to do without.
