Moving up the Inter-coastal

Joanne and I experienced our first day marching up the inter-coastal waterway. I think intercoastal is actually one word, but, thanks to spell check, I have no idea. That shows you how fresh we are. Having learned from our quick first bridge with Norm and Lee that we have to "check in" with each bridge, we have the hand mic ready at every bridge. We missed one bridge (timing) as they only open in this part of Florida on the hour, half hour or the 20's, depending on your location. My Waterway Guide is, so far, very accurate. Just approaching Delray Beach, we also hit one of the "famed" bridge tenders (that's a person, as in mostly human) that boaters often talk about. We called about one half mile out. His comment...you won't make it. Mine, I am pretty sure we will. Joanne stepped up the throttle; we reached it easily on time. I called for the opening at 2 minutes past, informing him of our readiness. He informed me that we reached it at 2:31. TOO LATE...next opening 3:00.
Joanne was fuming, so when we docked on the fuel dock at Delray Beach Harbor Marina, we sat quietly, I swam in their pool and we prepared for dinner. I should have offered her a Captain Morgans Rum, but it was not even 4:00.
We caught an electric taxi for a ride into Delray Beaches Atlantic Avenue. What a great spot. These little town centers with all the restaurants have become a real hit. It had many restaurants to choose from. We chose Vic Angellos. There at the bottom of the menu is "owner John Rossati". Another of my many dealer acquaintances. It reminded me of the finest Italian meal I had ever had in a local restaurant in Brooklyn, where John is a car dealer. What a coincidence.
