Check...one more bridge
17 April 2013 | Florida Intercoastal

As Joanne and I continue our first trek up the Florida Inter-ciastral, we are falling into a fairly regular pattern. You watch the chart, then find the next marker. Toby can't see it, he asks Joanne for help. Joanne is doing quite a bit of time on the helm. I think she is less nervous driving, then being driven. Auto Helm is becoming our friend. The course id generally a series of straights and our buddy "Otto" drives a straighter course then we humans can.
Every bridge becomes another milestone. It requires lots of sitting, or driving to make the opening. As we pass, its one more check of things accomplished. We write the time we pass so we can remember where we are. We deduct the mileage number (each mile of the inter-coastal is numbered on our chart), and we know how much further to go for our next harbor or dock. We hear every boat call for permission to pass and we listen to the courtesy (mostly) of the Bridge Tenders, managing cars and boats in their own personal control zone. Believe me...they know it is THEIR ZONE. Call their bridge by the wrong name and you suffer.
