11 May 2015 | One Day North
Toby Hynes
Friends and family, We are sitting...make that motoring...160 nautical miles from The Abacos and 160 below the earliest ever named storm. Good News: three of us partied in the Abacos waiting. Bad News: we are going to have some north winds when the storm clears. It will be a decision point. We can go for Beaufort NC or try to point North West after Hatteras. Seth is already building coordinates for this option.
The seas are flat still and the winds very slight. The 70 decibels of motoring are droning but acceptable. Fortunately some of us can barely hear. Surprisingly we have seen little life. Five Freighters and no one else. We have bets placed for things like "land ho", and estimated arrival time. The elusive fish remain off our two lines. Everyone remains comfortable. Yes Joanne, brother Joel is wearing your magnets. He threatened to throw my overboard if I took a picture.
Earlier today "swab" John worked up lunch. (Picture). We are having half a Tenderloin from Costco for dinner.
Happy Mothers Day.
