Fisher's Bay

21 May 2013 | Great Guana Cay
Spent the night in Fisher's Bay on Sunday. We left about noon for our trip over to the Bluff House on Green Turtle Cay to wait for our weather window to head back to Florida. It has been a fun trip and we have seen the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas.

Nipper's

21 May 2013 | Great Guana Cay
A view from the top of Nipper's--famous bar and restaurant--on Great Guana Cay. This stretch of beach is known for its reef, but it was a bit too rough for us to snorkel. Unfortunately. The other thing about Nipper's is they have a Pig Roast on Sunday nights and we were there on Sunday afternoon. It was difficult to walk through the hoards of people all drinking, mingling, and dancing. Way too much flesh--all ages--and most of it not pretty. But it is one of those places you must visit when you are in the Abacos, so we went.

Sunrise from Mango's Marina

18 May 2013 | Marsh Harbor
We are back in Marsh Harbor to do a little reprovisioning and laundry, plus visit with some friends (6) who flew in from Amelia Island for the weekend. This was this mornings sunrise. Starting tomorrow we will begin working our way back North to Green Turtle Cay.

View from the top

18 May 2013 | Hope Town
101 steps to the top of the Hope Town Lighthouse and what a view of the harbor. Three of us were moored in the harbor lined up in the center of the picture. The Coy Mistress is the last of the three.

Narrow Streets

18 May 2013 | Hope Town
This is a beautiful island with lots of activity, good restaurants and bars, a beach, and even has a wonderful coffee shop that roasts its own coffee beans. One thing......the streets are very narrow and two vehicles cannot not pass, not to mention they drive on the other side. It makes for interesting walking.

Ice Run

18 May 2013 | Hope Town
Bill's on an ice run. It's happy hour!!

Lighthouse

18 May 2013 | Hope Town
Islands are not complete without a lighthouse and this one is pretty awesome. The only kerosene operated lighthouse left. Its beam can be seen for 20 miles.

Ol' Blue

18 May 2013 | Hope Town
Ol' Blue is happy now to finally be in the water and with a new floor that Bill made over the winter. It is pretty nice.

Our next stop

18 May 2013 | Hope Town
With some strong winds approaching, it was time to move on lest we get stuck in the marina. So, we decided to move out of Marsh Harbor and head to the very protected harbor at Hope Town. A very pretty place.

High Water Mark

18 May 2013 | Marsh Harbor
Having seen several marker lines showing the high water mark of various storms before in New Plymouth at Miss Emily's, reinforced how a hurricane can devastate these islands.
This plaque at the Jib Room at Marsh Harbor Marina tells the story.........a lot of water flooded this place.
