Black Point Settlement
19 January 2022
We sailed here yesterday, yes we actually had the sails up without the hum of the engine! We left Cambridge Cay with a NE wind at 8 knots and quickly set sail. By the time we were a 2 or 3 miles from Guana Cay and Black Point Settlement, the wind was shadowed by the land and we slowed to less than 4 knots. That was our limit and we brought the engine back to life.
We anchored a bit north of the Black Point government dock and took the dinghy in for lunch at Lorraine's World Famous Cafe and bought a loaf of her Mom's famous coconut bread (excellent). After a delicious meal, we wandered around town and visited with Shane and Tanya on Seascape (Leopard 45 catamaran) and Fred and Run Ann on Shooting Star (Whitby 42 ketch). See photo! We let them all try the bread, so they will buy some today!
In the evening we all got together at Scorpios Bar for Happy Hour. Two rum punches for the price of one. We also saw Will, Cat and Maddie (Paradox II); we met them earlier at Warderick Wells and Cambridge Cay.
The rum punches were delicious. When Happy Hour ended the bartender became the DJ. We danced until the wee hours of the evening (like 8 pm). We returned to our dinghies and safely returned home to our boats.
