Cruising aboard the Nauti-Dog

After 33 years on sailboats it is time to stop tending sails. We now have a brand new Ranger Tugs R31CB-LE. This boat is trailerable, although we will need wide load permits. It will now be a one day trip to DeTour, Michigan rather than 6+ days.

Friday Harbor

Shown in the picture is the anchor bridle I made so that the anchor rode doesn't have to come off the bow roller under tension. As it turned out Friday Harbor didn't have the anchor I wanted so I had to take a ferry ride to Anacortes, Washington to a West Marine store. I bought a replacement anchor and 100 feet of 5/16 high tensile chain to replace the anchor and chain lost at Watmough Bay. That set me back over $1000.00!!! Expensive lesson! Actually the 100 feet of chain was 50 feet more than I lost. More chain helps to hold the anchor in a position such that it digs in deeper and holds better, not that holding was the issue when we lost our anchor!!! In 30+ years of sailing I have never chaffed an anchor line.
