Martha's Vineyard

09 September 2010 | Vineyard Haven, MA
cool!
We left Plymouth and timed it just right to make it through the Cape Cod canal on the tide and right on down through Buzzards Bay. Unfortunately, we were going to be facing the tide at Woods hole which we found out when we got there!! After struggling with the tide for a couple of hours we finally made it into Vineyard Haven Harbor on Martha's Vineyard. We took a city mooring. We took the dinghy to the city dock and walked up to the Black Dog for dinner. Thursday we took the dinghy around the harbor and walked around town some and found out the details on the vineyard transit. For $7.00 you could take the transit all day as many times as you wanted. So we left early on Saturday and made the rounds of the island. First stop was Edgartown where we had lunch (and saw a little of the GA game at the Wharf Pub)and walked around. Our second stop was the most beautiful place on the island, Aquinnah. It's on the southwest point and is an indian reservation. We really enjoyed our stay here. Left Sunday Morning for Block Island, RI.
