I emptied one of the 6 gallon fuel jugs in the tank, some of it through a funnel with a piece of cotton in it to filter out any sediment. There was some, especially at the bottom of the jug. Then I went ashore and bought a proper fuel filter at West Marine. When I emptied the 2nd jug the fuel seemed much clearer. I refilled the jugs at the local fuel station. Curlew's fuel tank only holds 56 gallon and it is comforting to have a small extra supply in reserve. Later that afternoon I took out my folding bike and rode to the West Chop Club for dinner with Ineke, her daughter-in-law Amy and her two kids, and her daughter Cornelie. Two years ago on my way south I had called Ineke, but she had just left the island and was on the ferry back to the mainland. So this time I stopped in MV on my way north. It was dark when I rode back, and the mosquitoes were out in droves. Note to self: next time bring bug spray when you go out at night!
