Hawksbill Cays - Day 10

21 May 2018
In the morning after re-setting the anchor hadn't drifted at all, but still, I don't think either of us slept very well after the first time we experienced drift.

Headed south to start going across to Foxtown. Went through the "South Cut" of Great Sale Cay, which we can do because we're a cat. The cut went down to 3ft, despite the charts saying 3.5ft, so be wary other sailors! The cut took about 5nm off today's travel distance, which when you're going 3kts due to unfavorable wind, is a time savings of almost 2 hours.

Once we cut through there was, yet again, 15-20 knot winds exactly where we wanted to go.

Shawn showed me how to helm in these conditions, as Autohelm can't keep course with these winds.

Later on dolphins came to play on our bow for a while! They just kept swimming around and coming up for air, probably hoping we would drop some tasty fish. We haven't been doing any fishing though so they got bored and swam away after a a while. Their appearance certainly brightened our spirits!

Shawn: "Do you think the dolphins would've enjoyed some spaghetti-o's?"
Me: "... No."
Shawn: "Have you *tried*?"
Me: -_-

This is what I've been dealing with all day, every day, for 10 days now. He's currently making angry quacking noises as I write this.

Eventually we make it to Little Abaco and at one point the waves decide to finally give us a break. And oh, what a difference it made! From barely 3kts to 4.5kts. Watch out world, we're flyin' now! Still not that fast, but definitely better.

Currently anchored in Hawksbill Cays directly north of Foxtown, where we will go tomorrow for fuel, groceries (we're doing OK but want to explore a bit), and the restaurant. It'll be fun to finally see a real Bahamian town! And probably expensive, but we expected that going in.
