After having decided to stay at lock 4 for the evening we wandered into the town of Stillwater in search of a restaurant and some supplies. Like so many towns in northern New York it was hard to find much open on the off season. We decided to head back to the boat for a swim and a nice pasta dinner on board. We hoped to be on our way in the morning but unfortunately we had to wait until noon before we could leave. In the mean time a gravel barge arrived and wanted to tie up on the wall where we were. Since he was much bigger than us we gave him the wall and returned to raft to him. We enjoyed a great visit with the crew who work 2 weeks on and one week off running up and down the canal.
