NYC and Sandy Hook
27 September 2016
We finally got underway from Half Moon Bay Marina when Steve, the Harbour Master, finally untied all of our bow lines! The day started out overcast and cool after an all night rain. The weather improved immensely as it became sunny and warm (low twenties).
The view of NYC from the water was stunning, to say the least. We experienced numerous ships, barges and ferries; we even watched the Queen Mary 2 being preened for it's next voyage. I was extremely impressed with the Statue of Liberty; what a strong message for visitors! She is stately and beautiful. Other impressive sites were: the Staten Island Ferry, Ellis Island, and the expansive skyline.
We are presently anchored in Sandy Hook watching the weather to determine when we depart for points south.
