Chesapeake City
05 October 2016
We were up bright and early to commence our next leg of the journey. Our plan was to enter Delaware Bay and eventually reach the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal continuing towards the Chesapeake City.
We are travelling with Al & Tess who are on their Tartan 37 called 'Ingomar'. The initial concern was having to spend an hour and a half going around the shoal off of Cape May. Fortunately we spotted 'Thistle', a Lyman-Morris 46 with a 6 foot 6 draft. He kindly escorted us over the shoal thus saving us a good hour.
Once we entered Delaware Bay we experienced a 15-20 knot breeze from the NE. What an amazing sail!! We made it to the C&D Canal hours ahead of schedule. We lucked in with the breeze and the push from the tide.
We arrived at Chesapeake City by 3:20 pm and were invited to have cocktails on 'Ingomar'. We are keeping a close eye on the weather to decide what our next step is.
