Our First Dolphin Sighting

21 October 2016
There is a forecast for 20-25 knots of breeze tomorrow so we decided to leave Belhaven this morning and go to Oriental. Our plan was to spend a day or two at the free town dock, hopefully there would be spots open when we arrived. After another hot sunny day we pulled into the harbour and to our dismay all the slips were occupied. However, we had already scouted out a few alternatives and decided to head to Hardy Creek across the Neuse River from Oriental. Here we are securely anchored with lots of protection for the evening and we may try to head to Morehead City tomorrow afternoon. Bev just spotted her first Dolphin and by tapping on the side of the boat succeeded in getting it to come within 20 feet of us. The attached photo was taken by Amy from Sparrow yesterday morning when we were anchored in the Alligator River.

We initially had little to no cellular access at this location. Allan hoisted our iPhone, in the knapsack to the first set of spreaders and low and behold we are reconnected with the world!
