Day Off In Morehead City
26 October 2016
We decided it was time for a shore visit so we left Hardy Creek relatively early and headed for Morehead City where we we would stay in a marina for the night. The plan was to arrive early in the afternoon so that we would have a chance to relax and checkout the town. Thanks to a favourable tide we arrived in great time; we fuelled, pumped out, filled the water tanks and we were secured on the dock by 1 p.m. During the morning we passed a boat that we had seen way back in Catskills NY while we putting our mast up. Turns out they were also staying in Morehead City, so we arranged a rendezvous for later in the day. After a nice hot shower we headed out for lunch at a waterfront pub and we caught up to our friends. After an hour or so of sharing each other's adventures Bev and I returned to Dagny to complete some chores.
Morehead City Yacht Basin was very impressive but we did feel out of place with our 40' boat docked between two 80' yachts! It is amazing how your perspective can change. There were a number of large sport fisherman boats docked there as well and it was interesting to watch hired crew preparing these boats for their owners. Definitely, a different snack bracket.
We haven't been able to update the blog regularly because of server issues that seem to be remedied. We hope to catch up later today.
