Bimini!

08 December 2016

We arrived safe and sound in Bimini after a great crossing from Key Biscayne on Wednesday. We were up before dawn with the coffee brewing as we had planned a 6:00 a.m. departure with the crew of Ti Amo. There were a few isolated thunderstorms around in the morning so we delayed till 6:15 until we were certain the storms would pass south of us. When we hoisted anchor it was like rush hour, at least 12 boats left within 15 minutes of each other and it was a parade out of the channel. The seas were flat calm to start and we all headed off under motor, the GPS showed an ETA of 2:00 p.m. and we uwere anxious to get across the gulf stream. Around mid morning a light northerly breeze came up allowing us to motor sail under genoa. Thanks to the extra push we arrived in Bimini at 1:30 and have tied up at Brown's Marina for a couple of days. There is a strong cold front expected tomorrow with gusting winds to 30 kts. so we will stay here acclimatizing to island life until it passes.
