Weather Locked off Pirate Beach
09 January 2017 | Fowl Cay Resort

The cold front rolled through during the night from Saturday to Sunday as advertised. It started with heavy rain squalls and some distant lightning around two in the morning then the wind shifted and it hit with vengeance around 4 am. The wind went from NW around 12 knots to N at 30 gusting 40 and remained like that all day. As the sun set the wind abated a little and we hoped for a quieter evening; however, around 10 or so it was back up to over 25 gusting 35 and remained like that for Sunday night. The forecast is for it to moderate to 25- 30 knots and remain like that until at least Wednesday. These conditions are a great testament to the holding power of our Rocna anchor, of course having 120' of chain (200 lbs) deployed certainly helps.
We have spent our down time reading and doing small chores around the boat and for amusement we have taken up "lurking". Lurking is defined as the art of listening to other people's radio conversations; it seems to be everyone's entertainment. With any luck we'll launch the dinghy later and go ashore for a walk.
Today's picture is Fowl Cay Resort which is a couple of hundred yards north of us, you too can stay here for $11,000 a week! Of course, 3 meals a day and motor boat included.
