Good Bye Pirate Beach
15 January 2017
Finally after 9 days anchored off Pirate Beach the weather was to our liking and we hoisted anchor and set sail for Black Point. It was a beautiful morning as we said good bye to some new friends and rolled out the Genoa for a nice run down the island chain to our next anchorage. However, after reviewing our route I realized we would be on the wind as soon as we rounded Harvey Cay so we hoisted the main with one reef and before long we were close hauled in 25 knots and going like a train.
We arrived in Black Point and we were settled in by noon; unfortunately, the laundromat is closed today so we headed ashore for a good long walk. Lorraine's Cafe was open and advertised on the VHF radio that they would have some specials on during the NFL football game this afternoon. When we finished our walk we stopped in to have a beer and meet some of the cruisers who were at the cafe enjoying the festivities. The closeness of the cruising community continues to amaze us as we met a couple from Portland Me. today who are friends of people we met in Lucaya Harbour last year. We expect to be here for a couple of days before moving further south and as the weather moderates we expect to be in Georgetown by the end of the week.
