Spinning our wheels in Spanish Wells
06 March 2017
The strong east winds continue to blow and are keeping us pinned to the dock in Spanish Wells. All weekend the winds were a minimum of 25 knots with gusts of 35-40, it amazing how much the boats heels sideways when a strong gust hits the mast. There are at least 12 boats here all waiting to leave when the wind moderates, although the Marina is nice and we're well protected everyone is anxious to be on the move. When the staff knows your name and people have their favourite spot to use the free wifi you know it's time to leave.
In the mean time Dagny has been treated to a fresh water bath and thanks to our shore power hook up I had a chance to equalize the batteries. We have explored the town and visited with various other cruisers, today we plan on touring the local museum to learn about the local history.
Today's picture is of one of the island freighters unloading at the town dock, he is broad side in the channel with the stern about 20 feet from the shore.
