They Don't Make Them Like They Used Too
07 March 2017
Finally after 4 days the winds are moderating and it's time to get out of town. We had a great stay here and met more nice cruisers from various parts of the world but, we are all anxious to be on the move again. Today we will travel a whole 7 miles west to Royal Island where there is a beautiful well protected anchorage and is a good spot to stage for our jump to the Abacos on Thursday. Apparently, the harbour is beautiful and it is surrounded by a failed resort complex. You cannot go ashore there so that's why we chose to ride out this weather system in Spanish Wells. Four days at a high end Marina has put a bit of a dent in the budget, but hey, you have to spoil yourself once in a while and this is a great spot for that. The harbour is home to a twenty boat commercial fishing fleet and their comings and goings have kept us entertained during our stay. We continue to meet people with connections to Hudson, the most recent is the guy who bought Ray Anderson's boat "Gadsby". Bev, myself and a few others were getting together at the marina bar for some refreshments the other day and as we walked down the dock Alain ( a member at CVL) recognized us from racing at HYC.
Today's picture is testament to the affects of weather.
