One More Day At Great Bridge

26 April 2017
The rainy weather continued through Tuesday evening so we decided to stay in Great Bridge an extra night. The town has a wonderful free dock with room for 5 boats with great access to nearby shops. The first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired here in 1775 and the town has built a beautiful waterfront park to comemorate the events. Besides the historic trail that winds through the park there is a pristine nature trail that follows the canal for a while then winds it's way back through the woods. Bev, Laurie and I were enjoying a long walk along the trail when all of a sudden Bev screamed and ran past us as a long black snake slithered across the path. Needless to say we were all a little more vigilant as we finished our hike. The plan is now to move to Portsmouth on Wednesday and see what the weather brings.

Today's picture is of a Lady Slipper beside the trail.
