The Beginning of the End

16 May 2017

Thanks to a good tidal push we arrived in Catskills earlier then expected Sunday evening and elected to proceed right to the marina. Thankfully we made that decision because Monday it blew like hell with gusts over forty knots and manoeuvring the boats would have been tough. Although it was way too windy to haul the masts we spent the day preparing the boats and building the cradles to hold the masts. Tuesday morning dawned bright and sunny with calm winds, perfect weather for dismasting and rigging the boats for the final leg of our trips.

All went well and by late afternoon we had successfully dismasted and prepared Dagny and 2 Outrageous for the days ahead. It was a bitter sweet day as we knew the trip was coming to an end, but we would be home soon. Our friends on Anglezarke arrived late in the afternoon and we all enjoyed a delightful pizza dinner with them aboard 2 Outrageous. We'll be leaving here Wednesday morning and heading to the start of the Champlain Canal which opens on Friday morning, if all goes well we should be in Mooney Bay Saturday or Sunday.

Today's picture, derigging Dagny.
