Ready to Rock and Roll
06 October 2018
We have had a busy but successful 2 days. Friday morning we were up early and for the first time in a week there wasn't a cloud in the sky. We left the dock at Mechanville at 7, with coffee in hand, to catch the first lock and be on the way to Catskills. We transited the last two locks on the Champlain Canal plus the dreaded Troy Lock by 9:30 and we're well on our way to Riverview Marina. Luckily we even caught the tides right and arrived in Catskills at 2:30;however, there was a lineup for the mast crane so we relaxed a bit and prepared the boat at a leisurely pace.
At day's end we moved Dagny under the crane in order to be ready for an 8 a.m. appointment to step the mast. The crew here is good and we were all done by 9:30 and returned to our slip to rig and clean the boat. Our plan was to hopefully leave by mid afternoon and head downstream for a couple of hours; however, it was breezy and threatening rain all day so we decided to stay here for the night. Bev hiked 2 miles to the grocery store to load up on fresh veggies and milk while I scrubbed the boat. By day's end we had everything ready to go, however due to high winds we couldn't put on the genoa. After searching for 2 years to find an LED bulb that would fit our anchor light, I was finally successful, and ecstatic that it works!
We're outa here tomorrow morning by 7 and hope to be in Sandy Hook in two days.
Today's picture is of Dagny, all cleaned up.
