New York NewYork

We actually got to sleep in this morning because we had to wait until 10:00 a.m. to catch the favourable tide through NYC. However, there are always chores to do on the boat, especially since we want to cover a lot of miles in the next couple of days. It was time for an engine and transmission oil change so that we don"t have to concern ourselves with service for a while. I managed to complete the task without spilling anything and we were off the hook at 10.
Unfortunately it was a dreary, foggy day with poor visibility but we manged to time the tide well and cruised through Manhattan grounding over 9 knots. Once again we were stopped by the marine police north of the city for a check of our papers; after a 15 minute delay we were on our way. I was a little concerned that our luck would run out before the Narrows, but it held and we were clear of NYC by 2:30. Once we got south of the Veranzano Narrows Bridge it was a very bumpy ride to Sandy Hook but we arrived safely by 4:30. Our plan is to leave tomorrow morning around 10 for the 20 hour overnight run down the coast and arrive in the Cape May area in daylight.
Today's picture is of our view, or lack of view of NYC and the George Washington Bridge.
