Hiding from Micheal
12 October 2018

After spending the night at anchor in Chesapeake City and catching up on our sleep it was time to run and hide from Micheal. We left Chesapeake City at noon Thursday, once the tide had changed and headed for the Georgetown, on the beautiful Sassafras River. We had stopped here 2 years ago to hide from hurricane Matthew and knew it was a great spot. We managed to time the tide correctly and arrived in Georgetown at 3:30. We were greeted at the dock by Paul and Laurie from 2 Outrageous, we hadn’t seen them since we travelled north together in 2017.
It was a great reunion over dinner and drinks as we exchanged stories and met some new friends.
The marina here is well protected and we tucked in for the night to ride out the bad weather. Fortunately the worst passed well south of us, we had heavy rain and a spectacular light show until midnight. As always happens the wind came up in the middle of the night but we never saw more then 25 -30 knots. Today is a beautiful, clear cool fall day and we spent the day doing chores, going for a walk and shooting the breeze with the other sailors. Our plan is to head to Annapolis for a few days before exploring some of the Eastern Shore.
Today’s picture was actually taken a few days ago on the Hudson River. The couple were out for a row on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the umbrella is shading the family dog. No question who is king in that household.
