Why We Do It
23 October 2018
Frequently people ask us why we do trips like this and subject ourselves to living in the confines of a sailboat for 8 months away from home and family. Well, the answer is pretty simple, we both love the life style and it's important to remember that's it not the destination that counts but the voyage. The other thing we love the most in our travels is the people we meet, the friends we make and the reunions we are sharing this time around. Yesterday was a prime example, we stopped in Deltaville VA and had dinner with Greg and Glenda from S/V Ti Amo. We met them on our first trip in 2016 and they were mentors to us for our first Bahamian Cruise. Sharing stories and photos with them last night was a perfect reminder of why we do this. Priceless!
Today we sailed and motor sailed from Deltaville to Portsmouths Va and are currently anchored at mile zero of the ICW. We had a beautiful day, sunny and probably the warmest so far, it made it all the way to 70f. We plan on taking the Dismal Swamp route this time as the historic canal was closed the last time we transited the area.
Today's picture is of the sunrise at our anchorage in Jackson Creek. FYI the boat in the foreground is from Holland.
