One State, Two State, Blue State, Red State.

Actually we made it into our third state today! We've had some good days of moving after a few days of bad weather. We were holed up in Fernandina Beach for a day and a half while the wind blew hard out of the West, but now we've made good tracks.
It's been up early with the sun, pull on warm clothes--long johns, wool socks, fleeces one on top of another, hats jammed on heads. Motor starts up and we're underway before breakfast, chugging along with jib out most of the time to help. During the day the sun warms us, so the pile of discarded clothes accumulates in the cockpit until around 4.30 and then we start layering back up.
It's getting dark around 8pm so most days we can run late. We've had to time ourselves right though, especially going through Georgia with the numerous sounds. And when the wind and current oppose one another, it gets remarkably rough for such small bodies of water.
Had a good stay at Jekell Harbor Marina our first night after we left Fernandina Beach. We were planning on anchoring, like we did on our way down the coast, but there was a boat hard aground right where we'd previously anchored, so we decided to tie up for the night. Great little marina, not too pricey, nice showers, a pool and hot tub that didn't actually get hot (but pictured above is the great sign that accompanied it), and they have bikes you can borrow to go into town.
We also stopped at Big Tom Creek, where Tita and Corning had marked they stopped. Great anchorage, VERY deep right up to the banks.
The ICW is beautiful this time of year. There are so many birds, so many ospreys especially, that its hard to pay attention to all the channel markers, as we watch them hunt all day long.
And now we're at Hilton Head. If we push hard tomorrow we may get to Charleston, but it all depends on the wind and tides. It's a good life.
