On Monday morning we departed Riviere-au-Renard for Perce Rock. It was overcast with intermittent rain and again no wind. We passed the Forillon lighthouse, the tallest in Canada.
The view of Perce Rock wasn't much as we approached it in the rain, but as we passed it, the sun came out and the view on the other side was fantastic.
Our sail plan for the day was to carry on to L'Anse-a-Beaufils, a fishing village approximately 6 miles from Perce Rock, and spend the night there with the intent to depart for the Iles de la Madeleine early the next morning. But we made had made pretty good time getting to Perce Rock and we had a good weather window for the 150 mile trip to Iles de la Madeleine, so the crew all agreed it was a good time to go.
So we set off on our first overnight passage of the trip. The weather did indeed cooperate. We had clear skies and light airs during the night and motor-sailed for a few hours and then eventually we took down the sails and motored the rest of the way.
As we approached Iles de la Madeleine there is an island called Ile Mort (Dead Island), that has an eerie resemblance to a mummy. We definitely gave that one a wide berth.
We arrived in Iles de la Madeleine at 1:30 PM on Tuesday to some brisk winds and found a very nice anchorage at Havre-Aubert.
