The real adventure has begun! After over two weeks in San Diego doing chores, fixing generators, and attending Baja Ha-ha parties and talks, we are underway. We watched most of the rest of the fleet leave on Monday morning, which was fun to see. We were waiting for Jess, Scotts girlfriend, to arrive that night. We left port at 08:30am and motored for a couple hours. We had a big dissapointment in the hydrovane. When we put the rudder on there was a fairly heavy vibration in it and it was actually slowing us down. Mark determined the new plate was not large enough and removed the rudder. We are unable to use it until more adjustments are made. The wind came up and so did our sails after a couple of hours. We have been sailing ever since. There is a nice wind, 17-24 knots and all the sails are up! The seas are a little sloppy and it was a little noisy sleeping last night but no complaints from the crew. Vicki, Jess, and I all felt a little queasy, so meals have been a little bit of a challenge but all better today. Brownies just came out of the oven and sun is shining, so we are all feeling great! We expect to anchor in Turtle Bay tomorrow morning sometime. Dave read there was chinese take out there so he is all excited!
