Chores. That's what we do all day.

Julie Nice and sunny!
Since we went over last weeks budget by needing to spend two nights at Shilshole for repairs and then by buying a somewhat needed BBQ, we decided to just drop anchor last night. The slip fees at the marina that we are anchored off of are $1.50/ft/night. We're 44 feet. We like being at anchor better than being in a marina anyway.

Today is Victoria Day. Nobody could tell me what the holiday celebrates. The stores have reduced hours today and many are closed. There was a big parade in Victoria.

We took a bus down to Victoria this morning to do some chores. The bus took and hour each way and was over full even though it was a double decker. When we got back, we picked up a few bags of groceries and walked the final mile back to the boat. We found a laundrymat so we did a couple of loads. You never know when you'll come by a good laundry so we thought we'd take advantage. I like having clean socks!

For anyone that may be reading this and is thinking about anchoring in Tsehum Harbor, we had trouble finding a place to leave the dinghy for the day. The marina wanted to charge us $5/hour to put it in a slip but finally told us about 2 slips that were never used that we could use for free. At the top of E dock at Van Isle Marina, there is a restaurant, showers, and a laundry. If you scoot the dinghy to the east side, up near shore, nobody will bother you.

Kind of a boring day but now we feel that we've gotten some needed things done so we can get on our way.

The weather is beautiful today. I'm hoping for the same tomorrow. We'll be heading back up into the Gulf Islands.
