Enjoy in front of a roaring fire

30 August 2012 | Emeryville, CA
Julie, cloudy :(
I made a special, candle lit dinner for my hubby. The bottle of wine that I opened for my special dinner for my hubby says "enjoy in front of a roaring fire". So when I was setting the table, I held the napkins a little too long over the candle. You know what happened next. Problem is, I didn't. I thought to myself 'whew...I sure am glad that I didn't light those on fire!". I realized that my hand was getting hot and noticed Ken was patiently looking at me and thinking 'are you going to put that out soon?' When I realized that my napkins were on fire, I started to wave them in the air until I had created the roaring that the wine requested. I'm a little slow but finally figured out to throw the fire (because there really wasn't much napkin left by then) into the sink. That's when I told Ken that the napkins were on fire. He knew that already.

We are still in Emeryville, CA. We think we'll be leaving early next week. We BARTed and walked to a West Marine in Oakland yesterday. We hope to go back over to San Francisco this weekend to see some new sailing friends that just arrived in San Francisco Bay yesterday.

Kia Ora's sister ship is next to us in the marina. There aren't a lot of Hylas 44s around but we happened to dock right next to one here in Emeryville. They invited us over for an excellent dinner. Elliot got confused coming back from his walk one night and hopped aboard their boat. He cried once he realized that he wasn't 'home'. It's better than what happened the other night though. He jumped on the wrong boat and when Ken tried to get him off, he tried to jump to the dock and missed! The splash wasn't even done yet and he had clawed his way up onto the dock. We ended up with a 1/2 wet cat.
