A trip to the States

Last week we (Celeste and Paul, Ken and I) took a bus to my parents house in Arizona. The bus ride took 20 hours and we had to stop at 5 check points along the way. The bus was a full sized tourist type bus but only had 24 seats. The seats were large but didn’t offer any lumbar support and were slightly reclined so they were uncomfortable with a capital U. The bus line did offer internet and each seat had its own tablet computer to watch movies, play games, etc. The bus returning to Mexico had the same seating arrangement but the seats were more comfortable. No individual computers, though.
My sister and niece travelled to AZ at the same time so the whole family got to visit. It was nice to see everyone. We hiked in the desert, went to the botanical garden, went swimming, and visited the White Tank mountains (a life-long favorite hike of mine).
We were all craving non-Mexican food so we found a Thai place, followed that up the next day with a Greek place and then went for a mall pretzel.
We also shopped. Holy cow did we shop! Shopping is one of my least favorite things to do and cramming 6 months worth of shopping into just a few days was exhausting. We shopped so much that the four of us had 21 bags to drag back to Mexico. We now have spares for our spares and each of us has a new wardrobe.
We got back to Mazatlan around noon today and crammed us and all of our stuff into two taxis. We’re still unpacking and putting things away. I’m going to go eat some Trader Joe’s treats now…
