Hiking

05 June 2013
Ken, Celeste and I went on an hour long hike to a point where we could look out into the Sea of Cortez or down into the bay where the boats are anchored. The trail was nicely groomed and pretty easy. It was nice to stretch our legs a little.

The little town of Puerto Escondido is about 5 miles north of here. There is a small marina with a fuel dock but they've been out of both diesel and gas for a while now. We are down to about 2 gallon of gas now. We would have had 7 but 5 gallons went bad. We're not sure what happened to it. I had been questioning if it was actually gas because it didn't smell right and the can wasn't expanding in the sun and contracting in the evening. The outboard needed to be refilled so I refilled from this questionable tank and sure enough, the outboard quit, would start but wouldn't stay running. We drained the outboard tank and filled from another can and the outboard runs fine. We bought the gas at a Pemex station in La Paz. Now what the heck are we doing to do with 5 gallons of bad gas?

We are fine on diesel but since fuel stops are few and far between I would like to get a full load on board. The fuel dock was supposed to get a shipment of both diesel and gas yesterday but it never came. I'm not sure what is happening there.
