Bees are okay. We'll just keep telling ourselves that. Even though I got stung this morning, even though the cats water dish was COVERED in them, even though they buzz around your head and even though they crawl up our kitchen faucet, bees are better than bobos (gnats that like to get entangled in your eyelashes) and no-see-ums that like to bite, bite, bite.
We are anchored in Puerto Ballandra. It's a nice bay protected on all sides but the west. There is so much life here (besides the bees) that we are having a ball. Last night we could hear fish splashing all around us so I got a red spot light out and shined it in the water. The water was thick with fish!
This morning we got our snorkel gear on and swam over to a reef that is close to the boat. It must be new fish season as there were 1,000's of teeny tiny little baby fish around. The highlight of the swim was a very large green moray eel.
After an hour, I decided to go back to the boat and Ken continued swimming along the shoreline. Soon I spotted a pod of dolphins swimming at the entrance to the cove. I called out to Ken but he couldn't hear me so I got in the dinghy to let him know that dolphins were nearby. By the time I got to him, they had all gone away. Ken spotted a school of 6 barracuda, another eel, and a very large butterfly fish. I saw a large bat type ray feeding at the surface.
There was lightening and a bit of rain in the middle of the night. The rain lasted just long enough for me to get all the hatches closed. We were sleeping in the cockpit because it was too hot in the cabin so we got a little wet before waking up.
It's about 1 pm and it's too hot to be outside. We're going to hide out in the cabin near the fans until this evening. Now I know why my movie selection is so large.
